Du har alltid haft en sällsynt förmåga att kombinera skarp juridisk analys med ett glimt i ögat humör som får även de mest knastertorra rättsfrågorna att kännas som ett äventyr. Det är en gåva – och ett nöje – att få följa ditt arbete och se hur du med både värme och integritet formar samtalet om rättigheter och rättvisa.
Jag önskar dig en strålande festdag och många fortsatta år av inspirerande idéer, modiga projekt och skratt som smittar av sig. Tack för allt du bidrar med, både i akademin och långt utanför den.

Elina, du har förmågan att säga det som behövs i olika situationer. Det gör att vi som kollegor känner oss sedda och uppskattade. I en värld som ofta känns kaotisk, har möjligheten att arbeta inom Institutet för Mänskliga rättigheter vid Åbo Akademi fått mig att känna hopp för framtiden. Du utstrålar den energi som behövs för att arbeta med MR-frågor i motvind: ilska som behövs för att lägga gränser, uppmuntran som krävs för att arbeta vidare och glädje, som gör jobbet roligt. Tack för allt fram tills denna dag och lycka och glädje även framöver till Dig och hela IMR kollegiet!

Being your student has been a truly wonderful experience. You introduced me to a distinctive and impactful approach to teaching, one that was profoundly different from my university experience in Italy and that greatly enriched my perspective. In fact, your influence was so significant that it inspired me to embark on my PhD journey, that hopefully one day will see the light or maybe not but it gave me the opportunity to work, grow and learn with you.
Your charisma, strength, and sense of humor are rare qualities that inspire everyone that knows you. You have been not only an outstanding professor but also a role model and a remarkable example of leadership. Warmest congratulations to your “round”, 60th birthday! –This is indeed a reason to celebrate.
Personally, I had the privilege to get to know you in the context of the European Master Programme on Human Rights and Democratisation (E.MA) already quite some years ago. All these years, I have learned to appreciate you enormously and to admire your brilliance in legal scholarship. At the same time, I could enjoy (and benefit from 😊) your sharpness, objectivity and pragmatism in some long meetings of our governing bodies in the Global Campus of Human Rights. Indeed, your qualities sometimes “saved” our meetings. So, it has always been a privilege working with you.
More generally, I so much enjoy your company. This, perhaps most importantly, because of your humor and spontaneity. During academic events and after them. I will always remember dancing at Lido at the “Kiosk” after the – more formal – reception at the E.MA September events. In short, you are truly an exceptional colleague and also friend. Thank you so much for this, congratulations again and many great years ahead. – Christina
